The Central Teacher Eligibility Test, known as CTET, is the minimum qualification required in India for a candidate to be eligible for an appointment as a teacher for Classes I to VIII. The test is mandatory for teaching jobs in Indian government schools. The test is conducted to meet the objectives of the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009.

The Ministry of Education, Govt. of India has entrusted responsibility for conducting the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) to the CBSE, Delhi. The CTET exam is held twice a year to determine candidates' eligibility for appointment as teachers in Central Government Schools such as KVS, NVS, and others. The CTET Exam is held in 20 Indian languages in135 cities all over the country. The detailed information Bulletin containing details of examination, syllabus, languages, eligibility criteria, examination fee, examination cities and important dates will be available on CTET official website  https://ctet.nic.in/. The candidates are requested to download the information Bulletin and read carefully before applying the CTET Exam.

CTET has two papers: Paper 1, for teachers of Classes I to V, and Paper 2 for Classes VI to VIII. Candidates must score a minimum of 60% to become CTET Qualified, and the certificate is valid for lifetime.

The TET was a minimum qualification for a person to be eligible for appointment as a teacher to meet the following objectives:

  • To establish a national benchmark and standards for teacher quality and recruitment
  • To encourage further improvement in the performance standards of teacher education institutions and their students
  • To communicate the Government's particular focus on teacher quality

Candidates can apply for CTET– JANUARY, 2024 "ON-LINE" through CTET website https://ctet.nic.in/.  with effect from 03.11.2023 to 23.11.2023 (Before 11:59 PM).  Applications will be accepted ONLINE through the CTET 2024 Application Portal, which can be accessed from the CTET 2024 website. https://ctet.nic.in/.

CTET December 2024 ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: Educational Qualifications

The minimum qualifications for the CTET is as follows:

National Council for Teacher Education (Determination of Minimum Qualifications for Persons to be recruited as Education Teachers and Physical Education Teachers in Pre-Primary, Primary, Upper Primary, Secondary, Senior Secondary or Intermediate Schools or Colleges) Regulations as amended and notified from time to time.

Minimum qualifications laid down in the Recruitment Rules for the teachers by the Appropriate Government where the school is situated or the Recruitment Rules for the teachers of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangthan or Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti.

The candidate should satisfy his/her eligibility before applying and shall be personally responsible in case he/she is not eligible to apply as per the given eligibility criteria. It is to be noted that if a candidate has been allowed to appear in the Central Teacher Eligibility Test it does not imply that the candidate's eligibility has been verified. It does not vest any right with the candidate for appointment. The eligibility shall be finally verified, by the concerned recruiting agency / appointing authority.

Note-  As notified by NCTE, relaxation up to 5% in the qualifying marks in the minimum Educational Qualification for eligibility shall be allowed to the candidates belonging to reserved categories, such as SC/ST/ OBC/Differently-abled.

CTET December 2024 Eligibility / Qualification for Paper I

The minimum qualifications to teach classes I to V,

Senior Secondary or its equivalent with at least a 50% mark or appear in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education in accordance with the rules and regulations of NCTE /4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed)

OR

Senior Secondary or its equivalent with at least a 45% mark or appearing in the final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education

OR

Senior Secondary or its equivalent with at least a 50% mark or appearing in the final year of 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education)

OR

Graduation with at least 50% marks and Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) from a recognized University/Institution.

OR

Post-Graduation with a minimum 55% marks or equivalent grade and three-year integrated B.Ed.-M.Ed from a recognized University/Institution.

CTET December 2024 Eligibility / Qualification for Paper II

The minimum qualifications to teach classes VI to VIII,

Senior Secondary or its equivalent with at least a 50% mark or appear in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education/4- year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed) /B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed

OR

Graduation passed or appeared in the final year or a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education

OR

At least 50% marks in Graduation or appearing in 1-year B.Ed/B. Ed in Special Education

OR

At least 45% marks in Graduation or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed), in accordance with the NCTE

OR

B.Ed Programme which is NCTE recognized

OR

Post-Graduation with a minimum 55% marks or equivalent grade and three-year integrated B.Ed.-M.Ed. from a recognized University/Institution.

Examination Fee For Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) December 2024:

  • General/OBC(NCL) : Only Paper- I or II - Rs.1000/- ; Both Paper-I & II - Rs.1200/-
  • SC/ST/Differently Abled Person : Only Paper- I or II  -  Rs.500/- ;  Both Paper-I & II - Rs.600/-

CTET December 2024 Exam Re-Checking / Re-Evaluation

There shall be no re-evaluation/re-checking of result.

Method of Submission of Online Application Form:

Step1: Log on to CTET official web site https://ctet.nic.in/

Step2: Go to the link "Apply Online" and open the same.

Step3: Fill in the Online Application Form and note down Registration No./Application No.

Step4: Upload latest Scanned Photograph and Signature

Step5: Pay Examination Fee by debit/credit card and net banking.

Step6: Print Confirmation page for record and future reference.

Online Uploading of Scanned Images:

  • Upload scanned photograph and signature in JPG/JPEG format.
  • Size of scanned photograph should be between10 to100 KB
  • Image Dimension of photograph should be 3.5cm (width) x 4.5cm (height).
  • Size of scanned signature should be between 3 to 30 KB.
  • Image Dimension of signature should be 3.5cm (length) x 1.5cm (height).

A person who scores 60% or more in the TET exam will be considered as TET pass.

Validity Period Of CTET Certificate

The Validity Period of CTET qualifying certificate for appointment will be for life time for all categories.
